So we are on our last week of Loud Mouth. In this series we have been looking at our words and how they effect others and ourselves.
This week we talked about how on our own it is impossible to control our words, but yet it is so important because our words declare our destiny. James tells us that just like the rutter of a ship is small but it controls the whole ship, so the same is with our tongues.
So what do we do? It is impossible on our own. Jesus was talking and he said with people it is impossible but with God all things are possible.
Surrender is the key word here. We have all surrendered to something, lifestyle, money, relationships, status, the list goes on and on. What are you surrendering to? What have you not surrendered to Christ? Have you surrendered at all?
We wanna hear from you. What is going on in your life? What have you thought of this series? What has God taught you through this? What are you gonna do about it?

I loved this series. It was real for me because of some of the things I hear people say and that I say everyday that doesnt show a) that they care about others and b) their faith. Our words along with our actions need to proclaim who we are and if we confess to others, "Hey Im a Christian!" what kind of an example is it to then when were angry at someone to cuss them out or even talk badly about them. Its something that Ive struggled with because a lot of the time someone makes me angry and I need to vent but it ends up I just talk badly about them to someone and that doesnt show what Christ wants from us.

I totally agree with Nolan! I enjoyed this series of Loud mouth. I'm not going to mention any names but there are people that I am around almost everyday that I would have to say have a "loud mouth". Most of the things coming out of there mouth doesn't show that they are Christians and they know its not right yet they say it anyway. Yes its true we all make mistakes, but if this is a misktake I want to know how I can help them...
ReplyDeleteIt is very hard for me sometimes to tame my tounge cause when I do it just makes me even more mad cause I want to say what is on my mind. This is definatly something I need to work on!
One more thing.. I just want to say Ryan and Brett did a great job teaching these lessons!!
I really thought this series was great... While a lot of us already know we should watch our words and build each other up, I think it was a good reminder and it put those verses in James into new perspective for a lot of us as well. I like the way it was presented. I personally am reminded to use my tongue wisely and train myself to watch what I say. Thanks Brett and Ryan!

Surrender... No matter what purpose I try to make for my life, it always seems to come back to that word. Everyone surrenders to something, worships something, lives for something. Some don't realize it, or may say they don't worship anything, but in reality we all are.
ReplyDeleteOver time I'm beginning to realize that God wants me to surrender EVERYTHING. He wants ALL of me. Living for Christ can be such an amazing thing, when I can feel God working in and through me that's the greatest feeling. It's not always easy to surrender, for sure, but it's SOO worth it. And one day in Heaven, I would like to hear my All-Powerful, Indescribable, Heavenly Father, Creator of the WORLD say, "well done good and faithful servant." So I'm going to strive everyday to live for Him, because when all's said and done He's the only One the matters.
